Commencement 2023 Honorary Degree Recipients and Speakers
Architect Francis Kéré to Deliver Keynote Address

Providence, R.I. — April 10, 2023 — RISD will present three honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degrees to visionaries in contemporary culture. Architect Francis Kéré will accept an honorary degree and deliver the commencement keynote address. Designer Walter Hood and artist Do Ho Suh (RISD 94 Painting) will also accept honorary degrees at the ceremony.


We hope you will join us for our 140th Commencement on Saturday, June 3, at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in downtown Providence. This year’s ceremony will be followed by a community reception in Market Square to toast the Class of 2023.
