TWEED’s GARDEN VARIETY – Summer 2023, Artists:

JOHN KELLY, CAROL LIPNIK & GORDON BEEFERMAN (7/18) – an evening of (mostly) original music. Kelly, an acclaimed veteran of the East Village performance art scene, will accompany himself on guitar, singing original and cover songs. Lipnik, who has emerged as a reigning Goddess of Alt Cabaret will perform, with pianist Beeferman, songs that channel life’s illusions, mysteries, madnesses and light.

DAVID GREENSPAN (7/25) – will perform excerpts from his play Odysseus inspired by James Joyce’s Ulysses andHomer’s Odyssey, but set among a group of family and friends on Long Island. Incorporating passages from Samuel Beckett, Gertrude Stein, and Justice John Woolsey, the play dramatizes the interconnection of love and creation.

VICKIKRISTINABARCELONA (8/1) – the internationally acclaimed trio will perform songs from their recent Northern European tour. Rachelle Garniez, Amanda Homi and Mamie Minch compose the superpower trio of seasoned musicians dedicated to gorgeous vocal harmonies, creating a world of sound at once powerful, playful and poignant.

UNITARD (8/8) – the wildly twisted, outspoken, fabulous comedy group has performed from coast to coast and points in between as well as Canada. The acclaimed comedy trio is made up of Mike Albo (former New York Times columnist, novelist and established solo performer), Nora Burns (of the comedy group The Nellie Olesons, and the disco musical hit The Village), and David Ilku (member of the Dueling Bankheads).

BERGMAN & BLOUSTEIN (8/15) – a classic variety hour bringing together a collection of multi-talented singers, writers and indescribables. Bergman & Bloustein is the musical comedy brainchild of composer/multi-instrumentalist Eli Greenhoe and singer/actress/accordionist Natasha Bergman.

TWEED THEATERWORKS Kevin Malony, Artistic Director was founded in 1983 and since that time has produced, presented, ushered in, cajoled and blackmailed live performances out of artists in every imaginable medium, with the possible exception of sword swallowing. But that can change.
