Miami, FL (March 13, 2024) – The inaugural Open House Miami (OHMIA), held on March 1-2, 2024, has successfully concluded, marking a significant milestone in the celebration of Miami and Miami Beach’s rich architectural and design heritage. This first edition of OHMIA, part of the global Open House Worldwide network, has set a new precedent for urban exploration and engagement in the city, showcasing the vibrant tapestry of Miami’s communities, cultures, and built environment.
Over the course of two days, OHMIA offered attendees an unparalleled opportunity to engage with over 50 hosts across 15 distinct neighborhoods, facilitated by the collaborative efforts of The Miami Center for Architecture and Design (MCAD), the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA), the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), the Miami DDA, and over 75 local partners. The festival provided over 70 individual tours and events, all free and open to the public, with most events booked to double their capacity.
The festival’s diverse programs explored themes such as Sacred Spaces, Culture, Resilience, Building Miami, Sports, Glamour and Grandeur, and Curiosities and Colorful Past with exclusive behind-the-scenes building tours, expert lectures, performances, curated experiences, panel events, and opportunities to meet some of Miami and Miami Beach’s most renowned architects.
The festival underscored Miami’s status as a great place to live, work, and play, providing both visitors and residents a first-time peek behind the scenes of iconic buildings and venues.
