PORTLAND, ME — April 20, 2026 — Maine College of Art & Design (MECA&D) is proud to announce that its annual Fashion Show will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026. The Fashion Show presents original work by the Textile and Fashion Design students, with ticket proceeds donated towards the College’s robust scholarship program.
All work shown in the Fashion Show was designed, developed, and constructed entirely by MECA&D BFA students and includes work from first, second, third, and fourth year students. Students express their unique concepts through their work and often employ their textile design expertise to create their own fabrics through weaving, knitting, printing, and dyeing.
Alysha Kupferer, Chair of the Textile & Fashion Design program, shared, “This year’s Fashion Show reflects the conceptual concerns of the next generation of artists and designers, including topics such as mental health, environmental ethics, gender, and performance. Both senior collections this year employ textile materials as a means to carry cultural identity, and they celebrate and defend queer communities and indigenous communities, respectively.”
This year, $30 raffle tickets can be purchased in-person or online for the chance to win a limited edition leather bag made by Adriana Uribe-Rodriguez ’26, titled “The City Pack”, valued at $575.
