Senior Account Manager – Visual Arts

Public relations firm specializing in visual arts, design, and architecture seeks a full-time Senior Account Manager to join its Visual Arts team.

We are searching for an organized, experienced, results- and detail-oriented public relations professional to manage the day-to-day efforts to support our nonprofit and commercial clients in the visual arts field, including foundations, museums, galleries, and other art related projects. Candidates should have solid experience in visual arts public relations, preferably from the commercial or gallery sectors. Established media relationships in the field are essential. Outstanding writing skills and polished interpersonal skills are key to this role. Candidates must be able to think creatively and quickly, and be comfortable with facilitating introductions and  interaction in social environments. Foreign language skills are a plus. 

Three to five years of public relations experience, preferably in an agency, is required, along with team management experience. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and executing strategic communication plans/timelines
  • Acting as a day-to-day contact for clients and media
  • Overall support of account team
  • Sustaining and fostering art and culture media relationships
  • Actively pitching top media outlets
  • Developing and editing press materials including press releases, pitches, media alerts, fact sheets, image selections, Q&As, remarks, and presentations
  • Fielding media inquiries and arranging media interviews 
  • Managing special events, such as media previews and trips
  • Overseeing agendas and media updates for client meetings, calls, and reports
  • Working with our digital content division to advise clients on digital content and social media strategies
  • Database supervision
  • Facilitating new business opportunities
  • Representing Blue Medium at client and art world events
  • Reporting to the Account Director of Blue Medium

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in communications, journalism, or art history
  • Proficiency in Google Drive suite, AirTable and MuckRack (or similar media database platforms)
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • An energetic team member and self-starter
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Solid understanding of social media tools and channels
  • Strong ties to the art world
  • Deep knowledge of and established relationships with media outlets covering visual arts, culture, and lifestyle
  • Willingness to work both from our office (3 days per week) and from home (hybrid)

In addition to the base  salary, incentives and benefits include 100% company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance coverage, generous vacation and personal days, a retirement plan, and bonuses subject to revenue and performance.

Salary range  is $60-70,000 per annum, based on experience. A review is conducted after three months.

Paid Public Relations Internship – Architecture + Design

Public relations and strategic communications firm specializing in architecture, design, visual arts and culture is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, dedicated, candidate for an internship to join our Architecture + Design team for a minimum of three (3) months.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Supporting the team (Architecture + Design) with administration
+ Attending regular team catch up meetings via Zoom to understand and assign key roles and responsibilities for the week ahead
+ Attending weekly brainstorming meetings for story angles and pitch targets
+ Researching new media contacts and publications
+ Helping to coordinate social media efforts
+ Drafting outreach reports
+ Creating and updating media lists and contact databases
+ Maintaining press clippings
+ Attending events and assisting with check-in where appropriate

Applicants should possess strong writing and organizational skills, a demonstrable interest in contemporary visual arts, an eye for aesthetics, and an ability to work well in a remote setting with regular virtual check-ins. Some knowledge or background in art history is essential. Must be literate in Zoom, Google Meet, Google Drive (incl. Google Docs and Google Sheets), and Microsoft Office. 

Prospective interns should be available for 2-3 full days per week (10am –  5pm). This is a paid internship.
