Maine College of Art & Design
Portland ME
Founded in 1882, Maine College of Art & Design (MECA&D) is the oldest arts educational institution in Maine. Today, the college serves a community of nearly five hundred students across undergraduate and graduate programs, with areas of study ranging from painting and sculpture to animation and documentary studies.
Located in Portland’s downtown arts district, the college’s main campus occupies a historic six-story former department store. In addition to its in-person programs, MECA&D has expanded opportunities for postgraduate learning through online and continuing education initiatives, reflecting a commitment to supporting artists and designers at multiple stages of their careers. Above all, the MECA&D maintains a strong connection to its community, prioritizing human creativity above all.
