New York, NY – September 22, 2025 – The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation is pleased to announce its fall 2025 programming calendar. All events will take place during the exhibition Romance, Regret, and Regeneration in Landscape, which opened September 18th and runs through December 9th, 2025 at The 8th Floor.
On October 23rd, Chief Curator at Madison Square Park NYC, Denise Markonish, will host a talk with Canadian visual artists Sameer Farooq and Cassils. On November 18th, curator and Director of the Vernacular Institute in Mexico City, Jo Ying Peng, will host a talk with Mexican artist, Chantal Peñalosa Fong. On December 9th, the season will close with a discussion between Richard Mosse and Alexis Rockman, two of the show’s featured artists, moderated by the exhibition’s curators Anjuli Nanda Diamond and George Bolster of The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation.
The 8th Floor is also delighted to announce an open call for the Sight/Geist series for local emerging film and performance artists, which will return in its 6th season in Spring 2026.
All events are free and open to the public and take place at The 8th Floor, 17 W 17th St, NYC.

Together, they will reflect on their practices, experiences as artists in the diaspora, and the current political climate between America and Canada.

Jo Ying Peng, curator and Director of the Vernacular Institute in Mexico City, Mexico in conversation with Chantal Peñalosa Fong, a NYC-based Mexican artist whose practice engages deeply with questions of labor and the border between America and Mexico. They will discuss working as diasporic artists abroad, and the contemporary politics affecting artists, curators, and academics based in the USA.

A discussion between artists Anya Gallacio and Alexis Rockman and the curators of our current exhibition, Romance, Regret, and Regeneration in Landscape. They will examine human impact on the environment related to the epoch of the Anthropocene, the anthropause that occurred during Covid-19, and the curatorial impulses behind the current exhibition at The 8th Floor.
