Friedman Benda announces design industry veteran Alex Gilbert as newest member of the gallery’s sales division
Friedman Benda is pleased to announce that design industry veteran Alex Gilbert will join the gallery’s sales team.
With over 15 years of experience working at the intersection of design and technology, Gilbert was formerly a Vice President at Sotheby’s Home. While at Sotheby’s, she oversaw the development of their online marketplace. Previously, Gilbert was at Artsy, where she led their design division, and curated numerous public events and exhibitions. Active in the design community, she is currently a board member of the Female Design Council, co-chair of the Storm King Summer Solstice, and in 2019, co-curated Out of Officeat A/D/O.
“There is no other gallery that I feel has done more to concretize the work of today’s most talented designers, as well as that of the 20th century masters. I am incredibly enthusiastic to further increase visibility for the gallery and its designers. While long heralded by museum curators and design collectors, there’s still room for growth of design collecting within the art world, architecture and interiors, and other creative fields,” says Gilbert.
